So many questions linger in our mind when it comes to snoring issues, especially amongst males. There are many unanswered questions that remains when talking about snoring for instance does snoring have something to do with health, is snoring caused by improper breathing, does snoring pertains to our blood or is snoring related to our emotions?

WHAT IS SNORING?

When we breathe, we inhale air through our nose and mouth which flows down our air passageways which goes straight to our lungs. There may still be other reasons why snoring starts at night. Snoring is also said to be a result of a person's air pathways being larger than normal which makes the tissues more prone to vibrate as compared to those who have a normal sized air passageway. Males might even think snoring is a unimportant issue to even talk about.

TYPES OF SNORING

Snoring while the mouth is open shows a problem with the throat which is opposite of the type of snoring that commonly happens when you haven't had much sleep for a few nights. The tongue inflicted snore may be is the main culprit of snoring sounds caused by the tongue. There are many types of snoring that science have researched and studied.

MOST COMMONLY KNOWN CAUSES OF SNORING

A person who is under a medication, or is taking a regular prescribed medicine can affect the relaxation of the muscles much than it needs therefore the muscles around the throat and the air paths relaxes and then creates a snoring vibration during ones sleep. Snoring caused by male hormones is beyond your control a male has no power over his snoring. Having a improper sleeping position can cause a person to snore. A person who is inclined to sleep flat on their back makes the throat very relaxed and the back of the tongue tends to block their air pathways and creates the snoring sound. Non smokers are not saved from snoring caused by smoking because second hand smoke is just as harmful as first hand smoke.

CONTROLLED AND UNCONTROLLED FACTORS OF SNORING

Once the air passage ways swells it blocks the air tracks which prevent the normal airflow going and coming through the air tracks therefore it is best to limit our activities that are likely to induce you to snoring and this includes knowing the right foods to eat.

WHAT FOODS CAUSES US TO SNORE?

Try more on the vegetarian menu if you are tying to prevent snoring. Remember only you can control what you put inside your body so try to avoid those foods that can trigger snoring. A little wheat intake is okay but eating too much wheat is not therefore try to eat it sparingly. Another eating related tip is do your best not to over eat especially at dinner time.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEIGHT AND EATING HABITS TO AVOID SNORING

Stay away from your food temptations all the time if. Eating slowly can help you lessen your food intake. Seeing junk foods at the store, sends a message to your mind that whispers to you every so softly that these food are great and that you should buy them to eat but I'm here to tell you if you buy these junk foods you will most likely to snore nightly. Cut your food into tiny pieces before eating them to avoid snoring.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE SNORING SEVERELY?

By elevating the upper part of your body, it will help your air pathways to open and to let the air pass through with no restrictions. One way to stop your snoring is before lying on your bed, place an additional pillow to elevate the upper part of your body when you are asleep or if you have one pillow, double it. If possible, every night just before going to bed, try to clear your nasal passages with nasal spray or salinase to ease stuffiness which will prevent you from snoring.

______________________________________________________

stop your snoring naturally!

say "goodbye" to sleepless nights.

wake up feeling energized!

Snoring Solutions - Stop Snoring

This video offers an interesting procedure as an alternative to help reduce the snoring that annoys a sleeping partner. There are some people that have a very light snoring problem but there are others that at the very deep and loud one. I'm going to be talking to you about the deep kind of snoring is very loud and wakes up other people. Surprisingly the people that have this type of problem never seek out a treatment. I think that is very sad because of all the people that have to listen to it. This is one problem that the never gets fixed because people don't know what to do. I'm going to show you how to stop deep snoring.

Understanding what happens with this problem is an important part to solving it. There's something specific that happens in the world while you're asleep. Typically your mouth falls open and this puts a lot of pressure on your throat. It is the pressure on the throat that causes the snoring problems you hear. The deep and loud kind of snoring is caused by much larger pieces of tissue vibrating and this can only be cured if you close your mouth as you sleep.

The way you stop deep snoring is keeping your mouth closed, but it's hard to control yourself as you sleep. What you need is a simple device known as a chin strap. It wraps around your chin and the top of your head, securing your jaw in an upright position. Since your jaw is up there over a less pressure on your throat and you won't snore.

Learn how to Stop Snoring Forever

To find other free health content see e-healtharticles.com

Throat and Tongue Exercises to Stop Snoring

Throat and Tongue Exercises to Stop Snoring

Author: Kenneth Shannon

Recent reports on health relate snoring to chronic daily headache. It is because people who snore are either deeply bothered by it or is bothering other people. When a person snores, he could experience getting up in the middle of the night because of his own noise. And since sleep is the only time when the body recharges for new energy, sleepless nights can cause a lousy next day. Unable to rest well can also result to chronic headaches.

Because snoring already affects the health, it must be given remedy before its effects worsen. There are simple and easy to follow exercises which can help reduce or eradicate snoring. In view of the fact that snoring is an involuntary motion of the muscles in the throat, conditioning of these muscles while still awake will control its movement when already asleep. This practice could be done in place of medications and other treatments.

The tongue and throat exercises must be practiced regularly for a period of time until snoring is totally wiped out in your system. The exercises that will be revealed should be repeated for up to five times, twice in every day.

The first step should be opening and closing the mouth. This must be done to the full extent like when you're shouting to the utmost and closing the mouth with lips tightly meeting each other.

The next mouth position is crease your lips as if you are about to kiss or when pointing at something else without utterance. Hold on to this position for about ten counts and then relax.

And then extend your lips into that big, big smile. Exaggerate it to as much as your lips can reach. Hold on to that position for another ten counts. Again, relax.

Repeat the procedures 2 and 3. Pucker, hold, smile and hold. Do this for another set of ten counts.

With your mouth wide open, pucker without closing your jaws. Hold on to that position and relax after ten counts.

To counteract that, press your lips tightly together. For the same counts, hold.

Follow that step by making a slurping sound just like when you are sipping your juice. Firmly, stay on that position with your lips closed.

Then, stick out the tongue the way kids do. But hold it straight out to your mouth, restricting it from moving to sides. Hold and relax. While pointing straight ahead, try to reach a farther distance each try. Repeat this step several times.

Try to reach the corners of your mouth by sticking out your tongue. Hold it in each corner and relax. Repeat for several times.

Using the tip of your tongue, try to reach your chin to the farthest extension that you can get. Hold.

Stick out your tongue, in and out of your mouth repeatedly and as fast as possible.

Flick out your tongue to the corners of your mouth. Then repeat this with more speed.

Finally, move your tongue in a circling manner. Make sure that your tongue is in contact with the lips.

This throat and tongue exercises will stretch and contract the tissues and palate in the throat. Thus, you can be relieved from snoring. The exercise can last from ten to fifteen minutes. It's good to try it at home and can be as effective as the chemical medications! A diligent practice can help you get rid of headaches.

Read about calcium deficiency symptoms, calories in a peach and other information at the Health And Nutrition Tips website.

Article Source: http://www.articlealley.com/article_1238155_17.html

Cure Snoring Problems With Stop-Snoring Solutions - Here Are 5 Snoring Cures

Cure Snoring Problems With Stop-Snoring Solutions - Here Are 5 Snoring Cures

By Donna Jaremicki
Posted: April 01, 2010

Sometimes people are afraid of doctors, but you can cure snoring problems with stop snoring solutions that do not involve visiting your doctor. Many individuals snore only after they have consumed alcohol, which is even worse while sleeping on your back.

3) Everybody Says To Quit Smoking - Smokers commonly tend to be snorers, this is due to the inflammation and swelling of the throat tissue. It is hard to quit this habit, but it does cause phlegm to form in the throat resulting in more tissue vibration which causes snoring. It will also improve your overall health, and you health is important.

4) Get An Extra Pillow - Any pillow that puts a kink in your neck can make you snore. Pillows elevate your head, but they also may increase your snoring level, unless you raise yourself about 4 inches off the bed. It sometimes helps to use a wedge shaped pillow that raises you head and torso which keeps your neck straight.

5) Drink Milk At Bedtime - People say that drinking a warm cup of milk will help you sleep, and it may do that, but it could also make you snore. Dairy product may cause extra mucous production in some people which will make you snore. This may sound funny, but I think it is why my cat snores.

Now if you have severe snoring, or maybe sleep apnea, you have a much more serious problem. Millions of other people all over the world snore. If you choose to try a dental appliance as a snoring treatment, you will need to see a dentist specializing in these devices. Some medical snoring treatments are continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), oral devices (including dental appliances and lower jaw positioners), and surgery.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure consists of sleeping with an air mask to maintain continuous air pressure in the throat. CPAP is a treatment for sleep apnea, as well as for snoring.

A wide range of dental appliances, oral devices, and lower jaw adjusters are available to alleviate snoring. Some people experience significant improvement with these oral appliances, which bring the lower jaw forward during sleep. Most of the products fit inside the mouth, but some products on the market are worn around the head and chin to adjust the position of the lower jaw.

As far as surgery goes, Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty (TAP) treats snoring and various types of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The types of TAP include: laser-assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP) and radiofrequency ablation (or somnoplasty). Laser-assisted uvula palatoplasty (LAUP) vaporizes the uvula and a portion of the palate with a laser in the doctor's office under local anesthesia. LAUP effectively removes obstructions to the airway, which may be causing snoring or sleep apnea.

Laser-Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty has a higher success rate than Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty for sleep apnea (UPPP), but it requires a surgeon with expertise in laser procedures. Radiofrequency ablation, or somnoplasty, shrinks excess tissue in the upper airway with a needle electrode. For snoring, the soft palate and uvula are reduced. For Obstructive Sleep Apnea, the base of the tongue is reduced. For chronic nasal obstruction, nasal turbinates are reduced. Somnoplasty does not require general anesthesia.

According to many experts, while other snoring treatments may help in cases of milder snoring problems, for heavy snoring, surgically correcting obstructive conditions in the nose, pharynx, or uvula may be the only solution.
Snoring provides detailed information on Snoring, Stop Snoring, Snoring Cures, Snoring Remedies and more. Imagine, for example, that you wake up during the night for some reason, and your partner is snoring his or her head off. This can be extremely irksome if you can't get back to sleep because of the noise.

The coarse, unruly sound of snoring comes from the vibrations of the soft palate and other tissues in the mouth, nose and throat, causing air turbulence whilst breathing in.. There is often a partial blockage somewhere, or there may just be insufficient muscle tone to keep the tissues from vibrating. This can sometimes be caused by consuming too much alcohol, or by being overweight

In addition to snoring, some people suffer sleep apnoea, where they actually stop breathing for a short while, anything up to 20 seconds Fortunately we have an inbuilt reflex mechanism so that when the blood oxygen level gets low we are jolted awake and start breathing again, often with a snort or with choking Episodes of apnoea (lack of breathing), can occur quite frequently during the night with the result that a person does not get adequate refreshing sleep This makes the person tired and listless during the day It can reduce performance at work and even be dangerous by reducing concentration and reflexes whilst driving.

In order to overcome the problem it is necessary to find out if there is an obstruction, perhaps in the nose, or whether the snoring is due to mouth breathing. Often the problem is multi-factorial, often involving an unfavourable position of the tongue during sleep.

Factors that can contribute to the problem of snoring and sleep apnoea are:

• Obesity
• Alcohol and sedatives
• allergy
• Nasal obstruction
• Smoking
• Mouth breathing
• Poor tongue position
• Sleeping position
• Pregnancy
• The menopause

If you are unable to determine the problem exactly yourself it is best to see your doctor, perhaps taking your partner with you to give accurate information. If your own doctor can't help you solve the problem then he can refer you to a sleep study clinic for evaluation.

There are however, often simple lifestyle changes that can be of tremendous help in overcoming snoring and sleep apnoea problems.

• If you are over weight try to lose weight with a sensible diet
• Don't drink alcohol in the late evening
• Stop smoking
• Change your sleeping position. Don't lie flat on your back.

Author Rob Esmund is a retired health professional and now a health researcher and writer.
You will find more detailed information on overcoming sleep apnoea at the website here

http://thesleepeasyinfo.blogspot.com

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Robert_Esmund

Ways to Stop Snoring

Ways to Stop Snoring

Author: Vincent

Are you looking for ways to stop snoring?

Snoring is present in almost half of the adult population of the world. It is the most common cause of sleep disorder that affects people. However; doctors say most snoring is harmless and there are many ways available to stop it and these include losing weight, avoiding sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and avoiding alcohol.

Snoring is noisy breathing during sleep , it is a sound made in the upper airway of your throat as you sleep. It is a sign that air is not freely flowing through the throat passageway. Usually there is some type of blockage, such as swollen tissue, in one or more of the passages from the mouth or nose to the lungs. The noise of snoring is caused by parts of the nose and throat, in particular the soft palate, vibrating as you breathe in and out.

Most of the time snoring is considered not dangerous, but if serious it can become a life threatening sickness called sleep apnea. When loud snoring is interrupted by frequent episodes of totally obstructed breathing, it is known as obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is sometimes called the snoring disease because snoring is one of the symptoms. However , snoring is not sleep apnea, and sleep apnea is not snoring. You may have your doctor to check up for you to determine which is which.

Snoring , in my point of view , is perhaps more of a social problem than a medical problem. Why do i said that ? Because it hurts relationship , and it is disruptive to family life. Do you know that snoring is one of the main causes of marital disharmony ? That's why there are so many people looking for ways to stop snoring.

There is a way with no surgery, no aids, no medication and no strips to stop snoring , it is something as simple as exercise .As we had already known that snoring is always caused by some kind of block in the breathing passage .Now ,no matter what blocks the breathing passage, the cure to stop snoring is always opening up the throat and getting rid of the blockage .So how do we do that?

There are exercises that designed to help a person to stop snoring. The Stop Snoring Exercise Program Will Cure Snoring Naturally by exercising the muscles in the throat ,tongue and doing breathing exercises can completely cure your snoring as having a weak tongue, throat, or jaw all block your airways.

Here is a simple exercise that opens up your throat... and removes one of the most common blocks that cause snoring: That is a tense jaw.

Let's begin by putting your upper and lower molars together , then open your mouth pressing the molars as wide a part as you can, without stretching. You need to repeat this ten to twenty times...only focus on your molars. Putting the molars together and then lowering your jaw... like hinges on a door, for about 20 times in a row.

After about 5 to 10 times you will feel your jaw muscles strengthening and the back of your mouth opening up. This is the weak tissue that you are contracting, which you feel opening up your airways after the exercise .

The muscles you now feel contracting in the back of your throat... are one of the main problem areas in your snoring. So if you felt them opening up, it's mean the exercise works . When the airways are blocked, the air has trouble getting into the lungs... and as it passes the narrow tissue, it starts "flapping" back and forth, which causes the loud snoring sound.

But strengthening the jaw alone won't cure your snoring , because there are few causes for snoring , and often that combination of "air-blocks" makes your snoring not easy to cure.

If you are looking for ways to stop snoring , the stop snoring exercise program will be able to help you because they are directly aimed at your "weaker muscles", which are blocking your airways... instead of removing them (like in surgery) or pushing them aside (like those incredibly uncomfortable devices they make you wear in your mouth).

For more information on the Stop Snoring Exercise Program , please visit

http://vincenttay.com/stopsnoring.htm

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/ways-to-stop-snoring-80534.html

About the Author

This article is written by Vincent T .He has solved his own snoring problem using the Stop Snoring Exercise Program .

For more information on the Stop Snoring Exercise Program , please visit

http://vincenttay.com/stopsnoring.htm

Links Between Hypertension and Snoring

by Christian Goodman

At some point, you’ve probably been nudged in the night due to snoring – if you sleep with a partner. Or, you may have wakened feeling unrested even though you believe you slept several hours. Though common, this habit may be more than just an annoyance.

Some snoring is not necessarily cause for alarm. Someone who snores only occasionally can usually fix the problem by rolling to the side to sleep.

Noisy and or almost nightly snoring though is more than likely something worth looking into.

This can signal sleep apnea. This is a common but serious sleep disorder in which the person will stop breathing throughout the night.

Witnesses can usually tell when the person does finally take a breath because a loud snore will occur. This is more than just frustrating due to the noise. The chemicals which help control breathing also experience interuption.

Oxygen levels drop and hormones are released which over time can result in high blood pressure. If this is not treated, serious health problems from heart attack to organ failure can result.

A few other factors that can increase the liklihood of snoring or sleep apnea are being overweight, alcohol consumption, smoking and indulging in heavy meals shortly before sleep.

So, it’s been established that snoring or sleep apnea can lead to high blood pressure. What about the other way around?

Problems with the cardiovascular system tend to also include water retention. Water may be retained in the lungs and throat tissues. As a result, snoring or sleep apnea can be aggravated.

I strongly suggest my all natural High Blood Pressure program as well as my Stop Snoring Program. Both involve easy exercises and are extremely effective.

—————————————————————————

Christian Goodman is the creator of a unique method to cure sleep apnea and snoring as well as a treatment to lower high blood pressure. It’s something we all grow up knowing about. Granddaddies snore after Thanksgiving dinners.

Moms tease dads about their snoring and sometimes it’s mom who snores. The point is, snoring is quite common. At some point we have all snored or known of someone who did.

What we cannot all readily discern however, are the reasons behind snoring.

“The Stop Snoring Exercise Program” forced me to examine various causes of snoring and incorporate them into the system.

Why we snore

First of all, it may be hereditary. That’s right; certain physical characteristics may just be family traits we can’t avoid.

Large tonsils and adenoids can contribute to snoring.

Gender can increase your odds of snoring. Males tend to snore more. Age also contributes. The older most people get, the less toned they are. Muscle tone or rather the lack of around the throat can lead to snoring.

Reduced air flow through the nose due to an illness or having allergies can result in snoring as well as a poor night’s rest.

Contributors like that are not within our control.

We can change some of the other reasons that we snore. Among these ‘changeable’ reasons are such things as being overweight or out of shape, a history of smoking, alcohol, medications, or simply our sleep posture.

Issues from Snoring

People who snore suffer. So do those who love and live with them.

Couples resign themselves to separates rooms when sleeping – creating distance where normally closeness would reign.

Our physical and emotional well being suffer.

We have study after study proving the value of a good night’s sleep. But we also have sleep studies proving that snoring is waking many up throughout the night. It’s a nuisance that’s robbing us of the most rewarding ‘deep’ sleep that our bodies crave.

Do You Know How you Snore?

Snoring with a closed mouth can be the result of tongue position. It can deter air passage.

If you sleep with your mouth open, it’s much more likely that your throat tissues are causing this bothersome Zzzzzzzz. Those sleeping on their backs have cases that are generally milder in nature. A change in position and concentration on good posturing will often give this group relief.

When snoring occurs in all sleeping postures and mouth positions, additional issues may present.

For the larger majority however, a simple lifestyle change to get in better shape or some attention to finding a position for optimal air passage can make a difference in a sleepless night and a night full of rest.

My program was created to help people stop snoring fast. It’s easy and requires little effort. A few daily exercises can lead to the very sleep you’ve been deprived of.

———————————————————————-

Christian Goodman is a well known natural health researcher and the creator of many natural health alternatives. Try the following preventative measures. Changing your sleep position or using an oral anti-snoring device may be all it takes, but for many people a bigger project - namely losing weight - is often the real key to tranquil nights.

  Steps

Buy yourself a few extra pillows and prop yourself up in bed, rather than lying flat on your back. You'll prevent the tissues in your throat from falling into your air passages.

Raise the head of your bed. An easy way to do it is to place several flat boards under the legs at the top end of the bed. A couple of old phone books under each leg should also raise the bed enough to do the trick.

Sleep on your side. Of course, there's no guarantee you'll stay in that position, but at least start on your side with your arms wrapped around a pillow. There's a good reason you don't want to sleep on your back: in that position, your tongue and soft palate rest against the back of your throat, blocking the airway.

Try taking a decongestant or antihistamine if nasal congestion is causing your snoring. Use these only as a temporary measure if you suspect that a cold or allergy is to blame. Prolonged use of either can be harmful.

Tape your nose open with nasal strips, available at most pharmacies . They may look odd, but who's looking? Following the directions on the package, tape one of the strips to the outside of your nose before you fall asleep. They work by lifting and opening your nostrils to increase airflow.

Gargle with a peppermint mouthwash to shrink the lining of your nose and throat. This is especially effective if your snoring is a temporary condition caused by a head cold or an allergy. To mix up the herbal gargle...

Add 1 drop of peppermint oil to a glass of cold water. (Only gargle - do not swallow).

Change your sheets and pillowcases often to relieve nasal stuffiness, alleviate bedroom allergens. Try to vacuum your floors and curtains often too.

Try drinking nettle tea. Herbalists recommend it for soothing the inflammation caused by pollen allergies. To make the tea:

Pour a cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried leaf.

Cover the tea and let it steep for 5 minutes.

  Strain and drink.

Drink up to 3 cups a day, 1 cup just before your bedtime.

There are variety of Snoring devices to be purchased online.

Mouthpiece devices -- also known as dental appliances, or mandibular advancement splints -- have been effective for many snorers, including those suffering from mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnea. They are usually small plastic devices worn in the mouth during sleep to prevent the soft throat tissues from collapsing and obstructing the airway. They do this by bringing your lower jaw forward and/or by lifting your soft palate. Some devices also stop the tongue from falling back over your windpipe. An affordable and very effective one that has been proven to work for many is AntiSnore. They can be found on Amazon (search Anti Snore) and Ebay (search snore relief).

  Video

  Tips

Learn and research for those things that work best for others. It is very important to learn from others in order not to repeat their huge mistakes. The best way would be through discussions, forum, rating programs, health communities (such as health.communispot.com), etc.

Use Liddell's Snore Defense to ease snoring intensity and occurrence.

Work your throat muscles - There are few exercises for the throat muscle that help leaving airways open. It can save you from having a painful surgery.

If hugging a pillow doesn't help, you can tackle the problem with using a tennis ball. Sew a little pouch on the back of a top and tuck a tennis ball inside. At night, if you start to roll onto your back while you're asleep, you'll get a nudge from the ball, prompting you to get back on your side.

Lose Weight! Weight loss can reduce your snoring by easing any constriction of the upper airway.

Do mouthpieces work? A recent study in Switzerland found oral appliances effective in treating sleep apnea. Side effects were only "mildly disturbing": mucosal dryness (86% of patients), tooth discomfort (59%), and excessive salivation (55%). Long-term use may cause dental misalignments requiring corrective orthodontia work.

Consider the underlying cause. Discuss with your physician the possibility of a sleep disorder which may be more serious than just the snoring. The current gold standard for obstructive sleep apnea treatment is a CPAP device which opens the airway with pressurized air delivered through a mask or a nose-mounted appliance.

Quit Smoking. Tobacco smoke irritates mucous membranes, so your throat swells, narrowing the airway. Smokers also have more problems with nasal congestion.

If you regularly take any kind of medication, talk to your doctor about alternatives. Some drugs can make snoring worse, including sleeping pills and sedatives.

There is surgery available now if your snoring problem is a function of sleep apnea.

Some people sleep with tennis ball on their back underneath the shirt in which they are sleeping so they don't roll on back because that position would be too uncomfortable.

  Warnings

Don't eat a heavy meal or drink alcoholic beverages within 3 hours of going to bed. Both can cause your throat muscles to relax more than normal.

Make sure you wait a little while after you make your tea;You dont want your tea to be too hot.

  Related wikiHows

How to Stop Snoring by Using an Anti Snoring Mouthpiece

How to Get Back to Sleeping Normal Hours

How to Sleep when Someone Is Snoring

How to Quit Smoking when You Don't Really Want to

How to Lose Weight

How to Sleep Better

  Sources and Citations

How To Stop Snoring

Snoring Problem Advice

iSnore.be

Snoring Relief

Snoring Help Forum

http://www.snoremeds.com/instructions.php

Article provided by wikiHow, a wiki how-to manual.
